When Should You Not Use a Ladder Tower?

The ladder tower is one of the more frequently used tool in home improvement tasks such as repainting, installation of new fixtures, and replacement of rotten boards. Most ladders come in different configurations, from a long extension type that can lean against the wall, or free-standing ladders. However, ladders are not recommended for use in certain home or building improvement activities.

For home or building improvement tasks where a person needs a temporary platform above the ground, a scaffold is more practical to use than a ladder. Scaffolding systems can speed up the work in highly elevated areas. Multiple workers can take the high ground via a scaffolding platform, which can also handle the materials they need. The use of this tools is particularly more recommended for tasks such as bricklaying, wherein bricks and mortars are stockpiled on the scaffolding. This way, workers won’t have to go back and forth to transfer the said items.

Another advantage of scaffoldings over ladders is its flexibility. It can be expanded to attend to numerous construction and maintenance requirements. They are also stackable to allow it to reach really high buildings. Multi-story scaffolds are common items seen in most of today’s construction projects.

Like ladders, scaffoldings are also very easy to use. Scaffold jacks support the entire tower system, each built of durable materials like aluminum and steel. Scaffolds also have adjustable feet with steel pins that can lock it into position. They also have built-in ladders that allow workers to climb up and down. There is also a walk board that supports the weight of the materials and workers.

Scaffolds are very easy to set-up, like most ladders. They are also very durable and stable, so the safety of the workers is guaranteed. There are also mobile scaffolds available in the market that allow greater convenience since workers will have an easier time moving them from one place to another.

Scaffolding systems provide a more stable and convenient support for workers assigned to a home improvement or construction task. Although a ladder tower can be used in basic home improvement activities, there is no question that it is limited in terms of its ability in holding people and materials assigned to perform activities high above the ground.
